KUSD offers CTE programs in several areas: Business/Technology, Nursing, Animal Science, Cabinetmaking, Culinary Arts, Drafting/Engineering, Graphic Arts/Photography, Sports Medicine, Early Childhood and Technical Theatre.

KHS CTSO students participate in United Way Day of Caring

The Kingman High School FCCLA, HOSA and FBLA student organization members were out early in the morning participating in the United Way Day of Caring community event. These students cleaned up Bank Street between Airway and Gordon. Community service is an important part of Career and Technical Education! Way to go Bulldog CTSO students!

Lake Havasu FCCLA earns gold and silver at National Conference in Washington DC

Hannah Condie earned a gold medal in Fashion Construction, Sidney Cummings earned a silver medal in Life Event Planning, Bree Graham and Mariah Miles earned a silver medal in Illustrated Talk and Tanya Espino, Ashley Chavez and Marissa Giron earned a silver medal in Focus on Children.  Along with competing in their events, students had the opportunity to attend a College and Career Fair, leadership related workshops, and they visited several of the Capitol’s national monuments.  Great job, Lake Havasu FCCLA!

Skills USA Lake Havasu continues to shine at Nationals

The Interactive Application and Game Design team of Ian Brashear, Zack Casey, Sam Diego-Richards, and Trevor Gladwin brought home a bronze medal from the national conference in Louisville, Kentucky (students pictured in group photo on far right front two and back two). Daisy Picazo also competed in the Prepared Speech category for the journalism chapter. Skills USA is an integral part of the CTE programs at Lake Havasu! Congratulations to these outstanding students!

Lake Havasu High School Skills USA team takes 4th at Nationals

Jenna Van Rooy and Austin Burkholder used their HTML, CSS, JavaScript and graphic design talents to create a website at the National Skills USA Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky in June.  These students had 7 hours to create their site for the Webpage Development competition which earned them a 4th place finish.

LHHS students attend Thespian Festival in Nebraska

Lake Havasu High School had a successful trip to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for the International Thespian Festival! Twenty two students attended and competed in small group musical, monologue, duet scene, solo musical theatre, and costume design. Five students brought home the ranking of “superior” for their events. Allison Morones, costume design competitor, ranked as one of the top three in the nation and Tarnim Bybee was selected to participate in the opening ceremonies “An Evening with Alan Menken.” She worked with his creative team to kick off the festival! Along with this, Betsy Altamirano and Zoe Killian were selected to participate in Musicalworks. They worked with others to create the opening number of a never before seen, student written musical which was presented at closing ceremonies!

Students were able to attend theatre productions from all over the country, participate in workshops and work with industry professionals during this valuable learning experience. Congratulations to the Lake Havasu Thespians from the WAVE JTED!

KHS student Zeke Sweeney receives recognition at FBLA Nationals in Chicago

WAVE JTED and Kingman Unified School District congratulate Zeke Sweeney on his 5th place finish at national!

Zeke Sweeney from Kingman High School received national recognition at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2 in Chicago, IL. Sweeney competed in Microsoft Office Specialist Word and brought home fifth place. Microsoft Office Specialist Word is a new event, where students take an industry certification test from Microsoft testing their knowledge of complex Microsoft Office Word skills.

PHS student Robin Martinez earns gold at National FCCLA Conference in DC

Robin_MartinezRobin Martinez from Parker High School returned from the National FCCLA Conference in Washington DC with a gold medal for the Illustrated Talk competition. The title of Robin’s talk was Native American Type II Diabetes. Along with participating in leadership activities, students were able to visit sites in our nation’s capital and learn about the country’s rich history. Congratulations to Robin and his advisor, Jackie Reaves, on this award!

Mohave High School FCCLA Early Childhood brings home awards!

Five students and their advisor from Mohave High School recently returned from the National FCCLA Conference in Washington DC. The team of Samuel Paddock and Glennice Nguyen brought home GOLD medals for their Chapter in Review Portfolio Star Event. Jazmin Torres and Alana Sellan attended as the Arizona Voting Delegates and Jaquelynn O’Campo completed her duties as a State Officer and is ready to begin her second term as Vice President of Public Relations for AZ FCCLA! All five students completed the Leadership Academy as well. Their advisor, Michele Leyendecker, was also awarded the Spirit of Advising Award!

RVHS student attends National FCCLA Conference in Washington DC

WAVE JTED helps provide leadership opportunities through its support of student organizations. Ashley Walters from River Valley High School had the opportunity to attend the National FCCLA Conference in Washington DC and present her “Power of One” project. At the conference, Ashley and her advisor, Brenda Jackson, were able to attend a rally on Capital Hill celebrating 70 years of FCCLA. Ashley also completed the Leadership Academy while at the conference.
